Obituary for Lucy H. Louis

Lucy H. Louis age 102 of Richland Center passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Schmitt Woodland Hills. She was born on March 23, 1915 the daughter of Walter and Grace (Lunenschloss) Pronold  and lived in Twin Bluffs.  Lucy graduated from Sextonville High School in 1933.  Growing up and after high school, she worked in her parent’s Twin Bluffs store and post office.  Lucy married William “Bill” Louis on March 2, 1935 and together they operated the Oakwood Fruit Farm, a family owned business in rural Richland Center.  They were active with the Oakwood Fruit Farm until the early 1990’s where Lucy helped with many duties at the apple orchard and enjoyed visiting with people who came to the orchard.  Lucy and Bill were married 54 years before he passed away in 1990.  They loved to travel and spent their winters in Florida and Texas.  Lucy resided at Schmitt Woodland Hills, where she continued to enjoy visits with her family and fellow residents.  She loved her family very much and was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church since 1935 and in past was active in the PCCW.  She was a strong supporter of Ithaca Schools where her children attended school.  She was the first president  of the Band Mothers and worked to buy the first band uniforms.  Survivors include her 4 children, John (Vonnie) Louis of Richland Center, Dorothy Hanko of CA, Mary (Dave) Draves of FL, Joan (Bob) Belpedio of FL,  11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Grace Pronold, her husband, Bill Louis, 2 sons-in-law, Richard Hanko and Rick Maxey, a sister and brother-in-law, Blanche and Wilfred Schlimgen.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Keyesville, WI.  Fr. John Silva will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Stafford Funeral Home in Richland Center from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. and again at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Schmitt Woodland Hills or a charity of choice.  Online condolences available at
