Obituary for Elizabeth Snorek

Elizabeth “Libby” (Hoskins) Snorek age 80 of Cazenovia passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Libby loved her family, her pets, jigsaw puzzles and Christmas.  She loved her small-town community and was a life long resident of Richland County.  Libby was able to stay in her beloved home due to her wonderful neighbors, friends and family.  Elizabeth was born in Dodgeville on August 10, 1937, the oldest of 3 daughters born to David Bennett and Doris Lucille (Beatty) Hoskins.  Libby spent her childhood in Richland Center, where her mother was a homemaker and her father was the Assistant Post Master. Libby graduated from Richland Center High School in 1955.  She earned a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and graduated with a teaching degree.  Her first job was teaching in the Buck Creek School, a one-room school house near Rockbridge.  On January 27, 1962 Libby married her hometown sweetheart, Ron “Sport” Snorek and they were married for over 52 years, until his death in 2015.  Eventually Libby decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and worked at the Richland County Post Office for over 20 years.  She started as a rural mail carrier on route 4, then a town route, ending her career “working the window.”  She enjoyed her job immensely, as it gave her a chance to keep up with everyone in town.  An ardent animal lover, Libby spent her retirement volunteering for the Richland County Friends of Animals.  She loved the organization and especially cherished all the new wonderful friends she made there.  Libby’s family was always the main joy of her life.  She is survived by her 2 loving and devoted daughter’s, Jane (Ira) Dolin and Laura (James) Prendergast both of Gurnee, IL, an adoring grandma, she loved to bake and cook for her five wonderful grandchildren, Thomas Michael, Joseph Patrick and Grace Elizabeth Prendergast, Emma Jane Antonie and Paige Alexis Dolin, who will all miss their “Grandma in the woods” very much.  She is also survived by her 2 very loving sisters, Suzanne (Bill) Krohn of Peoria, AZ, and Sally Hoskins-Crabb of Richland Center, her caring sister-in-law, Betty Boeing of Richland Center.  She was preceded in death by her loving parents, David and Doris Hoskins and her devoted husband, Ronald Snorek.  Libby had many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, who all loved her very much.  She was a very kind and generous woman, who will be missed very, very much.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Stafford Funeral Home in Richland Center, WI.  Rev. Craig Peach will officiate with burial in the Champion Valley Cemetery in Yuba, WI followed by a luncheon at the Yuba Community Center.  Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Stafford Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. and again on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Richland County Friends of Animals, P.O. Box 524, Richland Center, WI 53581.  Online Condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com.
