James 'Jim' Michael Palosaari passed away at his home in Spring Green, WI on May 26, 2011. He was born in Michigan on January 12, 1939 and grew up in Wisconsin and the UP, graduating from Oconomowoc High. Jim worked in the Chicago and Detroit theatre before becoming one of the primary leaders of a global revival known as the Jesus Movement in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Jim was an evangelist and pastor in Canada, the US, and Europe, starting communes, one of which eventually became JPUSA of Chicago. He was responsible for the formation of the Christian rock bands Sheep and Servant, as well as the rock musical Lonesome Stone, and Greenbelt, which for many years was the largest Christian rock festival in the world. For two decades Servant was known for their cutting-edge theatrics as much as their witness to the global church to return to its roots in Jesus. Jim continued in the music scene with groups such as PID, White Cross, and News Boys. Jim constantly preached for a committed lifestyle, relying on God in the midst of poverty, and living in Christian community. He is survived by three sons and two daughters, three grandchildren, a loving wife, and many others he has touched throughout the world. His memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Cornerstone Church, 354 North Oakwood Avenue, Oconomowoc, WI, 53066. The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green is assisting the family with arrangements.
