Charles R. Schutz age 87 of Plain passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 4, 1924 in Spring Green the son of George and Frances (Ring) Schutz. Charles was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, the men’s choir, the Plain American Legion Post #398, past Umpire for Little League Baseball, past Village Board member, past Plain Fire Department member, past Boy Scout Leader and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II. He was married on September 27, 1945 to the former Mildred Keller. Survivors include; 7 Children, Linda (Luio) Arroyo of Puerto Rico, Don (Linda) Schutz of Libertyville, IL, Beverly (Tom) Hanson of Appleton, Debra Jolly of La Crosse, Tom Schutz of Naperville, IL, Sharon (Robert) Wingate of La Crosse, Brenda (David) Burr of Alpharetta, Georgia, 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, companion, Erna Gieck of Waunakee, a sister, Ann Norlin of CA, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Frances Schutz, 4 brothers, George, Joe, Rube and Norbert, a sister Marie Volk, an infant brother and sister, Marcus and Agnes Schutz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain. Fr. Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the church cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Plain American Legion Post #398. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Plain American Legion Post #398.
