Laura M. Schauf age 99 of Spring Green passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Greenway Manor Nursing Home in Spring Green. She was born on May 27, 1909 in Otter Creek the daughter of Henry and Emma (Mellum) Walsted. She was married on January 3, 1935 to Samuel “Lester” Schauf. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church where she volunteered many hours and also was a volunteer at the Greenway Manor Nursing Home for many years. Laura loved to quilt and made many quilts for her family and friends. Survivors include: 4 Children, Sister Grace Schauf of Jefferson, WI, John (Gloria) Schauf of Spring Green, Jim (Wanda) Schauf of Spring Green and Beth (Melvin) Miller of Arena, 9 Grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, Helen Cork of Waunakee and Evelyn Walsted of Taylor, WI, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Emma Walsted, her husband, Samuel “Lester” Schauf, a grandson, Greg Miller, 5 siblings, Herbert, Lloyd and Edward Walsted, Cordelia Simmons and Rebecca Olson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green. Fr. Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Memorials may be made to the Spring Green Fire Department.
