Paul O. “Buck” Schoenmann age 84 of Spring Green passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012 at the St. Clare’s Hospice House in Baraboo. He was born on September 23, 1927 in Spring Green the son of Oliver and Charlotte (Smith) Schoenmann. Buck served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was married on June 5, 1950 to the former Charlene Peckham. Buck took over the family bar in Spring Green known as Schoenmann’s Tavern in 1949 and remodeled the bar and changed the name to Buck’s Place in the mid 1960’s and owned the bar until 1970. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the Spring Green American Legion, the village board of Spring Green for 20 years of which 16 years he served as village president. He was instrumental in the start of the Spring Green Little League Baseball and the St. John’s Fun Fest, a charter member of the Spring Green Lions Club and acted as the municipal judge in Spring Green for 4 years. Survivors include his wife, Charlene Schoenmann of Spring Green, 7 children, Sue (Dale) Pforr of Spring Green, Scott Schoenmann of Madison, Peggy (Ron) Siko of Madison, Jeff (Sandy) Schoenmann of Spring Green, Greg (Julie) Schoenmann of Stoughton, Heidi Westley of Spring Green, Mark (Kristen) Schoenmann of McFarland, 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Mass in memory of Buck will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spring Green at 11:00 A.M. Fr. Mike Resop will officiate with burial in the church cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass.  The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green is assisting the family with the arrangements.
