James D. “Jim” Johnson age 92 of Richland Center passed away at peacefully at home on Thursday, March 17, 2011.  He was born on December 3, 1918  the son of Chloran and Gyneth Johnson.  He was married in 1943 to the former Camilla “Peg” Johnson.  Farming was Jim’s lifelong passion.  He farmed in the Melancthon Creek area for many years before moving to Richland Center in 1989. He loved his John Deere tractors and was a great conservationist.  Jim served on the Melancthon Creek School Board, Henrietta Town Board serving as chairman and assessor for several years, ASCS Board for 18 years and received the Richland County conservation award.  He loved Polka music, dancing and playing cards with his family.  Survivors include; his wife Camilla “Peg” Johnson of Richland Center, a son, Terry (Penny) Johnson of Hillsboro, a daughter, Sonya (Duane) Klang of Cazenovia, 5 grandchildren, Nick (Debra) Johnson, Joey (Peg) Johnson, Todd (Alisha) Johnson, Lisa Klang and Eric (Heather) Klang, 11 great grandchildren, a sister, Darlene McCarthy of Richland Center, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Chloran and Gyneth Johnson, a sister, Shirley Wedelstadt and 2 grandchildren, Douglas and Jeffrey Klang.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Stafford Funeral Home in Richland Center.  Ron Fruit will officiate with burial in the Richland Center Cemetery.    Visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Stafford Funeral Home and on Tuesday 12:00 Noon until the time of service.
